The Molecular Profiling and Data Science Department at Regeneron is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Computational Scientist who values independent research in an open and collaborative work environment. You will lead algorithmic development and bioinformatic efforts that help the Regeneron Genetics Medicines group create next generation therapies in gene editing, gene suppression, gene... expression, and gene insertion. In this role, you will work on projects that use cutting-edge technologies like AAVs, shRNAs, siRNAs, LNPs, and CRISPR-Cas9 to treat or cure diseases. You will design synthetic cell type-specific promoters and analyze RNA-seq and other omics data to characterize our therapies. Position Overview The Staff Bioinformatics Scientist is largely self-driven, working in collaboration with others on one or more projects which are extremely complex in scope. The Staff Bioinformatics Scientist is responsible for successfully leading the planning and execution of projects. This position involves independently making detailed observations, analyzing data that is extremely complex... and technical, critically analyzing the data and providing supporting scientific rationale as needed, as well as providing insights into the future direction of the project for successful outcomes. The Staff Bioinformatics Scientist helps develop the timeline and plan for new assignments/projects. As a technical expert with deep knowledge and thorough understanding of the science, the Staff Bioinformatics Scientist provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior scientists in the Research and Development group. Working in a team setting, the Staff Bioinformatics Scientist will be involved in Research and Development projects serving as a technical lead and subject matter expert in exploring, researching, and testing new technologies or providing and developing ideas and concepts to improve or develop processes that add value or establish innovative methods and processes for product development towards development of diagnostic assay products. Essential Duties Include, but are not limited to, the following: • Conduct comprehensive analyses within several product or technology areas and identify problems and discrepancies. • Independently plan and develop algorithms. • Independently develop, plan, and analyze results of experiments within several product or technology areas within defined timelines; Bioinformatics Analyst
Summary: Under the general supervision... of the Bioinformatics Scientist Department Manager Laboratory Directors and Pathologists and in accordance with established policies and procedures the Bioinformatics Analyst performs independently in the Department of Pathology. The Bioinformatics Analyst will be responsible for analyzing clinical Next Generation Sequencing data contributing to the development of data analysis pipelines and organizing and maintaining databases. Responsibilities: Participates in the daily clinical bioinformatics workflow such as DNA-seq and RNA-seq data analysis. Analyzes the clinical data for the validation of new Next Generation Sequencing tests. Assists with preparation of validation summaries of the new Next Generation Sequencing tests. Assists in developing analysis pipelines for Next Generation Sequencing tests. Evaluates analytical aspects of emerging analysis methods. Assists in the development of databases and webtools. Responsibilities The Nath laboratory is seeking a highly motivated, self-starter senior level scientist with the ability to work with optimal resources and little direct supervision to address important questions in the genetics and genomics of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE or lupus), an autoimmune disease. Using large-scale genome wise association studies (GWAS), our lab has identified several genes/genetic variants associated with lupus susceptibility. Now we are trying to understand the specific functional effects of those lupus associated genetic variants, using cell lines from patient-derived primary immune cells or tissues. We will apply various modern techniques for studying features of three-dimensional (3D) genomic organization such as 3C, Hi-C, ChIP-Seq, RNA-seq and genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9 based techniques. Successful candidate will be proficient in a wide range of analytical methods and the use of bioinformatics/genetics software for analyzing and interpreting various types of data. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Genetics, Epidemiology, computational sciences or relevant field or a combination of relevant experience and education. Must have knowledge and experience of statistical genetic methods for gene-mapping for complex traits, and computer programming skills (e.g. familiarity with UNIX-like OS, and at least one programming language) are required. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Genetics, Epidemiology, computational sciences or relevant field or Ph.D. in Biostatistics/Bioinformatics desired.
