In This Role, Your Primary Duties Will Include • Oversee all phases of mass-spectrometry data analysis, including peak picking and integration, database searches, compound ID assignment, quality control evaluation, and customer report generation. • Maintain and refine existing R-based software for data post-processing and core customer report generation • Design and implement informatics workflows for proteomics data reporting • Work with Core leadership and VAI researchers to develop novel informatics tools as needed The Ideal Candidate Should Possess Experience With The Following • A highly organized multi-tasker who pays attention to detail and values research integrity. • D. in bioinformatics, biostatistics, analytical chemistry or a related field • 5 years of research experience working with mass-spectrometry data, especially metabolomics and/or proteomics, from various LC/MS and GC/MS platforms • At least 3 years of experience with R software development • At least 3 years of experience working in a Linux high-performance computing cluster environment. • At least 3 years of experience with appropriate statistical approaches for mass spectrometry data • At least 3 years of experience in processing and analyzing large datasets (i.e., metabolomics data, proteomics data, NGS data, genome annotation, etc.) is an asset. • Familiarity with metabolomics analysis packages, especially Compound Discover and XCMS. • Familiarity with proteomics MS software including, Proteome discover, Spectronaut, MaxQuant and Skyline. • Familiarity with the fields of cancer biology, neuroscience, and/or immunology is an asset • Ability to work independently yet be a team player. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the development and application of statistical and computational methods to solve biological problems, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to learn and acquire new techniques and methodologies.
