The Knowledge Systems Group (KSG) at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is seeking an experienced Bioinformatics Data Manager to spearhead multiple bioinformatics “big data” projects. The role is primarily focused on making standardized genomic and clinical data sets available to the scientific community via open-access, open-source platforms. Bioinformatics Analyst for Cancer Epigenomics
One Bioinformatics Analyst (Post-Doc) position is open in the laboratory of genomic data science and epigenome biology at the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Cell Biology, West Virginia University (WVU). The lab focuses on epigenetic mechanisms of drug resistance in the bone marrow tumor microenvironment of multiple myeloma and B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. We apply a data-driven approach to define the hypothesis by evaluating epigenomic changes implicated in drug resistance using state-of-the-art epigenetic assays such as RNA-Seq, ATAC-seq, CUT&TAG, and single-cell multiome assay. We are currently searching for a Bioinformatics Scientist to provide bioinformatics related duties to the Cohorts Data Analytics Core. This opportunity is full-time, and it is on site in Bethesda, MD. Duties & Responsibilities • Optimize and maintain best practice pipelines to determine Phenotype Risk Score PheRS and perform PheWAS, LabWAS, TWAS, and similar analyses • Use and maintain large-scale genotype and phenotype databases • Build computable phenotypes for disease, drug effects, and other conditions using combinations of EHR data and survey data • Develop scripts that analyze a variety of health-related data and combine data across different orthogonal data sets, such as EHR data, environment, taxonomical knowledge resources such as OMIM, human phenotype ontology, or Drug bank to aid in genomic analyses • Provide broad-based programming and analytic support for a wide variety of informatic and genomic research projects; write custom scripts to analyze public or data generated... in the laboratory • Provide broad-based programming and analytic support for a wide variety of bioinformatic and research projects • Perform computational analysis of, and interpret results • Maintain proper and detailed documentation of the analysis performed and report results at lab meetings • Provide detailed documentation of custom scripts • Develop or share tools via simple websites • Participate in research design with investigators for determining best practices pertaining to the bioinformatics analysis in new and ongoing projects • Identify new tools and resources for reaching biologically meaningful conclusions • Work on multiple projects concurrently with other laboratory members • Interact and advise other NIH researchers to translate research phenotype and analysis ideas into requirements for projects to be executed within the cohorts that we maintain access • Collaborate with group members in experiments associated with data collection • Attend group meetings; present findings; author publications resulting from projects # SOAR #LI-JR1 Requirements Skills • Experience with one or more general programming languages including but not limiting to: Python, Perl, or Java • Experience in large-scale analyses in the high-performance computing environment or cloud-based environment • Experience in creating data management tracking systems, data and analysis quality control, error-checking procedures, and back-up procedures to prevent loss of data • Ability to quickly convert analysis ideas to implementation, and to multi-task on different projects • Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) a plus • Experience with OMOP or FHIR a plus • Experience with All of Us, UK biobank and the eMERGE is a plus (not required) • Ability to use version control systems, such as GitHub is a plus • Ability to use version control systems, such as GitHub is a plus • Experience with OMOP or FHIR a plus • Experience with All of Us, UK biobank and the eMERGE is a plus (not required) • SQL • R • Perl • Java • Python Qualifications • Minimum Education: BA/BS Degree with 3 years of specialized experience, Master’s Degree preferred in Biomedical informatics/Informatics/ Bioinformatics/ Biostatistics/ Computational Biology/Genomics/Computer Science or a related field • At least 3 years of specialized experience with Bachelor’s Degree Due to our contractual requirements and federal orders, including an Executive Order from the White House and an emergency regulation from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the position for which you are applying requires that you provide proof of your vaccination status.
