Job Description The Eukaryotic Pathogen, Vector and Host Informatics Resource (VEuPathDB.org) is a large, multi-institution project that develops scientific data-mining websites used by researchers worldwide to study selected vector, microbial pathogen such as those responsible for malaria and enteric disease and fungi. VEuPathDB models and presents genomic, post-genomic, systems biological and clinical epidemiology studies in intuitive, data-mining interfaces. Duties: We seek a biologist or statistician with experience in bioinformatics & computer programming -- or a computer scientist with experience in bioinformatics -- to join an established team of 40+ developers and biologists to develop and maintain VEuPathDB.org, a set of highly-visible websites that integrate diverse genomic datasets relevant to global infectious disease biology. VEuPathDB supports research by tens of thousands of researchers worldwide working on eukaryotic pathogens (protozoan parasites, pathogenic fungi) or invertebrate vectors of infectious disease. The successful candidate will interface with scientists to acquire and familiarize themselves with key genomic-scale datasets, build tools to load these data into a relational database, and integrate data into VEuPathDB websites.
